JELD-WEN - Custom CMS Design

My Role:  UX Architect

Key Activities: Information Architecture, User Flows, Interaction Design - Wireframing, Prototyping

Team size: 5

Agency: CMD Agency

Project Overview

In addition to the overhauling the design of the consumer facing JELD-WEN.com, our team strategized a solution for a back-end content management system the client could use to control all versions of content and inventory for multiple URL's across the globe. The goal of this was to cut down on the time it took for the site to load, users to update content, and especially the time for adding new products.

This project was a major collaboration between UX and Senior Developers. The desired efficient back-end structure was master-minded by the dev team and UX had the goal of making sure all flows worked to meet the goals in a logical easy to use fashion.

Process

-Research of modern CMS architecture methods and features: Headless CMS was the chosen architecture
-Lots of meetings with in-house developers to discuss functionality, desired features, and game plan structure & flow.
-Creation of site map
-Storyboarding flows
-Wireframes
-Rapid prototyping with developers
